According to the "San Francisco Chronicle", a bunch of women in the USA recently stripped naked and lay on a hillside with their bodies arranged to spell out the words "NO WAR". The group, called "Unreasonable Women Baring Witness", said that they did their action in order to draw media attention to opposition to the upcoming war between the USA and Iraq. They pointed out that the media in the U.S.A. ignores anti-war sentiment, and they felt that getting naked was a good way to get noticed - and it sure worked! More and more groups all over the world, protesting all sorts of issues, are using nudity as a way of ensuring that their protests get noticed by an increasingly disconnected media. At NIFTY, we say, more power to you! Not only does this generally succeed at increasing the media exposure of a protest, but also, it always sends a positive message in favour of clothing-optional rights. And did anybody notice that the groups using this tactic tend to be progressive groups? Anybody ever see the NRA or the Klan, etc. get naked at one of their protests?
